This recipe is from Jenny at the bloodsugar101 site. It tastes better than any commercial sauce I've ever had!

Jenny's BBQ Sauce

3/8 c. vinegar (I used Bragg's apple cider vinegar)
15 oz. can plain, unseasoned tomato sauce (1.5 cups)
3 T. worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 T. prepared yellow mustard
3/4 T. Frank's Red Hot
3/4 T. salt (optional) (I just salted to taste, probably about a tsp.)
dash cayenne pepper
1 T. lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp. Liquid Smoke
3 packets of Splenda, or 6 tsp. granular, or 18 drops Sweetzfree
(I also added 1/2 tsp. blackstrap molasses)

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for a few minutes. Cool and store in refrigerator.

Less than 1 gram carbs per tablespoon.

Jenny said to mix the mustard in a small amount of heated sauce, then add to pan. I didn't bother to temper it, but just whisked it right in with the rest of the ingredients. It'll mix right in with a bit of whisking.

She also says the sauce tastes a bit peculiar when hot, right after making it, but really comes to life after it's been chilled. I thought it tasted so great right off the mixing spoon when hot that I could have eaten the whole pan! If it's going to get even better, I can't wait!

This is very good--who cares if they discontinued the SF KC Masterpiece?!!

I made Linda Sue's coconut breaded chicken strips last night and served this (along with that excellent honey mustard sauce I posted a while back) for a dipping sauce. Mr. V loved it!!

Thanks for sharing...I can't wait to try this!

And ever since the Pizza Quiche recipe, my son says any recipe from you must be good. :D
He liked the Pizza Quiche so much, he was asking me where I got the recipe from. ;)

Haha--I made myself a pizza quiche earlier this week, to have on hand for quick breakfasts or lunches, and the hub has eaten half of it! I'm going to have to hide it!

As for the sauce, I've almost used the entire jar of batch number one. We had chicken tenders and used it for dipping sauce, then I made a tri-tip roast in the crockpot and cooked it with a small amount of the sauce, and served more of it on the side. You guessed it--DH poured about a half a jar on his portion!

I made this recipe last night and made BBQ pork ribs. It's really good and so nice to have something different. I froze the rest of it in an ice cube tray for future use so I can just take out a cube or two as needed.

It's great stuff, isn't it? I'm on my third jar of it!

Jessica have you doubled or tripled this recipe before? any modifications for a double batch?

Im having some girlfriends over on Saturday, making BBQ chicken (brined first, then grilled for a few min on both sides, then finished in the oven, to keep em moist). I plan on basting the chicken with this sauce as it bakes.

I think I want to double the recipe, just to make sure we have enough for dipping and lipsmacking :)

thnx...

Hi jess. I made this this weekend. I doubled the recipe, came out to exactly 4 cups (so a single recipe makes exactly 2 cups). It came out to 1.25g net carbs per tablespoon, as you said.

The flavor was nice but needed spice. Didnt have any cayenne handy so I added about a tablespoon of very finely minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Loved the addition of smokiness from the chipotles.

I didnt have bacon so I didnt add it to the sauce but def. will the next time I make this recipe, i was hoping for a little texture to the sauce. I might simmer it longer next time to, to reduce it to a thicker consistency.

The flavor was great though. Thanks!

I made bbq chicken w it and my girlfriends loved it.

Dama, the first batch that I made, I added some Thick'n'Thin Not Starch, which definitely thickened it up, but with later batches, I decided it wasn't worth the trouble--it's the flavor I really like, not the texture. Perhaps you'll get the thickness you're looking for by letting the sauce reduce for a while on the stove. Glad it worked out for you, and let me know if you perform any interesting tweaks to the recipe!

Just wanted to give you a big thank you for this recipe. We made ribs tonight and used this sauce recipe. DH and I agreed, it's the best one we have had to date. Going to use this one again and again. We love BBQ.

So glad you tried and liked it! It's my favorite--far prefer it to any bottled sauce I've tried!
