I am going to a party next week where we have all been asked to bring a pot-luck dish. I am really nervous going because I just finished the two week Induction with poor results so the smorg of food is really going to be tempting.

In any event, I want to bring a dish that I can eat, but also 'WOWS' the ladies. Thank you in advance for the suggestions.

Not sure if this is induction friendly but we buy frozen meatballs and put them in a crockpot. With that we add a couple of different types of BBQ sauces and its delicious.

What I do quite often is eat a steak before I attend. At the party I can munch on the relish tray, cheeses, etc.

No need to make food the center of the party but enough to keep you social!

You could also bring a relish tray with some sour cream dip; or make some turkey salad, put red lettuce leaves on the bottom of the container, salad on top of the leaves, red onion slices on top of the salad and pickles and olives around the dish. You use your lettuce leaf to wrap your salad add red onion, olives and pickles! Meal complete!

How about a couple of nice salads? Girls like salads... and these are winners.

A traditional Salade Niçoise is low carb, and if you use fresh tuna, and cook it rare, cut up into chunks, it's much more elegant -- definitely has the wow factor when it's made. Forget the potatoes, they're not essential, use other raw vegetables instead, or just skirt around the potatoes :-)

In essence, it's:

tuna
green beans
hardboiled eggs
olives
anchovies
a little bit of onion
tomato
all on a pile of nice salad leaves, perhaps kos lettuce would be a good choice because it's quite decent, but would suit most people.

Dress with home made vinaigrette, which you can make with about these proportions, in a tumbler:
1/2" oil, say olive oil
1/4" vinegar
teaspoon of wholegrain mustard
plenty of salt and pepper to taste
squeeze of lemon juice

Mix it up really fast and chuck it on the salad leaves before the other ingredients.

-----

Another good "wow" salad, also dead simple and low carb, would be chicken, bacon, and avocado salad.

Huge pile of interesting salad leaves
Make a nice (cheat!) dressing, with plenty of mayonnaise, some lime juice or lemon juice and small amount of water to thin it a little bit.
Dress the salad.

Add on top:

Roast chicken, torn up into bite-sized chunks
A few rashers of bacon (cooked NOT too crispy!), chopped up roughly.
A sliced avocado or two
Perhaps some shavings of Parmesan cheese
Little bit of ground pepper over everything.

Yum, yum, yum... no hassle to make, and tastes absolutely brilliant.

Cheers,

James

Deviled eggs are always good...

especially if you garnish them up with a slice of green olive (with a bit of pimento showing) and a dash of paprika. This is my dad's only dish and whenever he brings it, there is never any leftovers, but the good news is, any that you bring home can be incorporated into your lunch the next day!
