I have no idea about substituting regular flour. You might try looking it up on the internet but I'm not sure how.

I think I'll try making them with almond flour. Did you use the same recipe and just substitute 1 for 1 ???

I found a recipe for almond pancakes somewhere.. I think it was on one of the low carb recipe sites.. If you want, I can post it on here..

I also tried to get some information on substituting wheat gluten for flour and I seem to get nowhere..

Just wondering if you had an idea on that as I have lots of wheat gluten as well as almond flour..
Almond flour is to be kept in the fridge to avoid it getting spoiled and rancid...

I keep the wheat gluten flour and the almond flour (and flaxseed, too) in the freezer. It doesn't hurt it and it lasts forever that way.

I'll try the pancakes. Don is never home for breakfast any more. He is either working or we're eating out somewhere. I get tired of eggs like everybody else.

Doesn't the flour get sort of frozen solid if it is in the freezer with the moisture??
I keep my flax seeds in the fridge and they last for months on end....


I was just wondering if you were able to find a way to eliminate flour in a recipe and substitute it with either wheat gluten or almond flour....

I made waffles using a regular recipe and I substituted the flour with wheat gluten, however I reduced the amount of flour.. The waffles came out "To Die For".......
I also modified the recipe a bit as it called for buttermilk and I used 18% cream instead.. I also increased the amount of sweetener...

I made the almond pancakes for breakfast today and they were delicious..
Extremely simple to make and easy to flip over..

The waffel recipe I use is NOT the amazing one as it is way too expensive to make.. I MEAN EXPENSIVE !!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little confused ... what's new?

You originally posted a link to a pancake recipe on a low carb site. But that recipe doesn't use buttermilk. So what recipe did you use that did have buttermilk?
