I agreed that banning was too much. I was just pointing out that there are people who risk death due to food allergies.

So, everyone here pretty much uses splenda with no adverse effects? I can't use it, not long after having just a tiny bit I get terrible heart palpitations. My sister in law had the same thing, and she ended up having to go to the ER...the ER Dr. said..."ahh, another splenda case" He said he sees this stuff all the time. This was 2 years ago, when the low carb craze was at it's height. He said to stay away from it. Well, I started back with Atkins 2 weeks ago, and have been trying to use splenda, for the first week, no palpitations...HORRAY...but yesterday, they started and today I'm all flutters. GGGRRR.
Sorry, I needed to rant a bit about splenda and didnt' introduce myself

I don't get a bad reaction to splenda, but I try to use stevia when I can as I don't really trust splenda. It's just the way it is made that makes me kinda scared. Taking sugar and chlorinating it!!! Um, isn't chlorine poisonous!!!??? Ya, so that's my thing, but I do still consume it, just try to do it less.

Everyone is different. My husband can't take large quantities of aspartame (Equal). He gets dizzy spells. I don't think we should use large quantities of ANYTHING artificial. But Splenda in small doses doesn't bother us, so we use it.

My favorite coffee stop had read the warning and took the Splenda away. I complained and explained that just because a few people might have a problem with it, the rest of us should not lose the choice to use it. Thank goodness they listened and brought it back.
I didn't want to have to find a new coffee place.

Splenda (chlorinated sugar), just like aspartame is a chemical product & can be hazardous to everyone health, even if no adverse symptoms are present. I try to avoid them as much as possible as they truly are not good for you.
The problem w/ aspartame is that when exposed to heat (I believe once it reaches right around 96 degrees..which is where the problem w/ human comsumption comes in because as you know, our average temperature is 98.6) the chemical properties change & it changes into a chemical much like formaldehyde. This "altered" form of aspartame has the ability to pass through the blood brain barrier, but cannot diffuse back out, so it collects within the brain/neurological tissue which is why it can cause neurological problems/side effects (headaches, dizzy, blurred/impaired vision) as well as neurological cancer. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not here to preach to you about aspartame...to each their own. I just think that if everyone knew how aspartame was "grandfathered" into approval by the FDA & knew of the true adverse effects, they would be able to make their own informed decision to use or not use the product. There is also a documentary out there called Sweet Misery, which is very interesting regarding aspartame.
