I apologize to those of you I was friends w/ on FB. I had to close my account due to some stalking issues. I think I may have to take down my avatar from here as well just to be safe.

Have been so stressed out since last Thursday that I have managed to drop 8lbs in that time as I have been eating only once a day (not good, I know).

Well here I am...still plugging along. Received results from my doctor from my biopsies and they think I have Crohn's Disease. My gastro specialist doesnt seem sold on the idea though becaue I do not have excessive diarhhea like most Crohn's patients. BUT of course, my doc's office called today & they want to do more labs & an xray. Greaaaat. I'll keep ya posted.

Crohn's, huh...wow. :? I was wondering about you over the weekend.

So frustrating not to know for sure. It's probably good they're still testing, though, I guess.

Sorry to hear you're still in limbo.

WE had good friends who had Crohn's ...both the father and the daughter. (They have since moved and I have lost contact with them) The father could control his pretty well with diet. Teh daughter was in 6th grade when she was diagnosed. Tehy put her on massive steroids and she gained weight unbelievably. Every one felt bad for her being chubby at that age when it ws not her fault. Once they took her off steroids, she lost it all and was slim and trim again.

Hi ladies!

Teech - Yeah it is annoying that I am STILL going for more tests, but I would rather the doctor be certain in her diagnosis. It is exceptionally annoying because all of these tests are considered "diagnostic" by my insurance carrier, so it is all going toward my deductible. I just got a $950 bill in the mail for my CT scan  Crap.

Patty - Thankfully they are not putting me on any of the corticosteoids! I was dreading the idea of it. My dad has ulcerative colitis & was put on those and also ballooned up. They are putting me on an anti-inflammatory called Asacol (who names these things btw?)

We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll have a definitive answer in the next couple weeks..and hopefully it wont be a chronic illness like Crohn's :D

Wow, Karen. Nothing about your post is really good---I mean, I don't mean to make light of it.

BUT...

the Asacol thing really made me laugh. :D

LOL teech, I know... Asacol is ridiculous...it's an anti-inflammatory they're putting me on to reduce inflammation in my rectum (a$$) & colon, and it's called Asacol?? lol

Wow, I didn't realize it has been so long since I last posted. It has been a crazy few months w/ all of my tests & things. I finally have a diagnosis (Crohn's Disease) and a battery of medications to go along w/ it. As of right now I am taking 11 pills a day, but that will be going up ot 14 shortly  But I am hoping the next batch of meds they have given me will get rid of that darn pain in my side which is still persistant. I am holding off a week or so on the new meds as they suppress your immune system, and in the past week I have been exposed to H1N1 twice! So, I am not willing to take that risk. I would rather wait on the meds for a week once I know the H1N1 is out of the office & I'm in the clear.

Karen I feel for you, as I had Ulcerative Collitis, and quite a few people in my family have Chron's Disease. Once you learn what foods bother you the most, it is very manageable. Thank goodness right. Just wanted to pop in and let u know I am thinking about you. Wishing you all the best!

I'm really hostile that I just lost my 4 paragraph long post, grrr.

I'm back after a year long hiatus. I think it will do me good to be back here journaling and keeping track of things. When I was dieagnosed with Crohn's Disease in September 2009, everything I read told me that I would have to follow a "bland, white, low-fiber diet". This "diet" recommended that I eat, white bread, potatoes, oatmeal, pastas, etc, while cutting out raw fruits and veggies. This went against anything I had ever learned about healthy diet, but I was willing to try anything to get rid of the pain that came along with eating. No such luck...and the weight gain that inevitably came with it did not help.

My friend that lives in AZ gave me a book that changed my life. It is a selective carbohydrate diet that is focused on restoring intestinal health. It is for people with Crohn's Disease, Celiac Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, & cyctic fibrosis. It is not a weight loss diet, but that was a pleasant side effect that came along with my uber-restrictive diet. LIke Atkins, I could have unlimited protein and low carb veggies. I am more restricted when it comes to dairy, fats (my own choice due to pain associated w/eating too much), as well as sugar-free sweeteners. Basically I cannot use anything that ends in "-ose" such as Splenda (sucralose) & ohers. I also cannot have different food additives, such as guar gum, acacia gum, corn starch, among others. I am allowed to eat fresh fruits and veggies, certain legumes, and use honey as a sweetener.

Anyway, enough of my diet ramblings! I'm glad to be back here...I've never met a nicer more supportive group of people. I plan to weigh in on Mondays, so I will likely post on every Monday. I hope to post as often as possible on non-weigh in days.

My current stats - (GULP!) I weighed in on Monday Jan 3rd 2011 at 230lbs...we shall see what tomorrow brings. I have to get back in control ASAP.

Ok, so I know that I've been out of control w/ the food, but how is it possible that i GAINED 3lbs in ONE WEEK? I am praying that it is water weight. My sausagey fingers are hinting at water weight

Today 1/10/2011 -Weigh in 233lbs

Breakfast - 1 fried egg +1 egg white, 3 sausage links & guacamole/salsa on top of the eggs. Water, coffee

Lunch - 2 chicken thighs, minus the breaded skin. cabbage slaw, water.

Dinner - ended up having flank steak w/ green bean/cauliflower/romanesco medley in a garlic butter sauce. Water.

Snack - a few fontanella cheese cubes & later had a bit of paneer

I woke up surprisingly hungry this morning. I think it's my body going through carb/overeating withdrawal! I do have to admit that I was ready to tackle Gabe for a Hostess chocolate cupcake last night LOL...BUT, I refrained.

B - coffee, 1 egg over medium, maple bacon, water -

**As a side note, I am getting side pain from what I assume is the bacon causing it. I havent had pain like this in a while - I may have to skip on the bacon for a while..perhaps get ham instead, lower fat content.

l - I plan to have leftover flank steak w/broccoli/romanesco in a garlic butter sauce

S - Brought a couple pieces of paneer w/ me (1carb for 3oz!). Pork rinds & ranch dip made w/ sour cream. Coke zero (8oz can). 3 cups of tea, water water water

D -

I've decided to start taking weekly measurements as well to help me during the times that the scale isn't moving. I hope i'm taking them correctly! Even if I am not, I will take them consistently incorrect lol so I know what kind of progress I'm making
Bust - 49
waist - 44
hips - 49.5
thigh circumference - 29 each

Ugh...if those numbers arent motivation enough, Idk what is!
