Well, started Atkins a week ago - for the first time ever, bit of desperation to find a diet that works, had found eating 'sensibly' for a week wouldn't lose anything so might has well have carried on as normal and not gained anything, but felt weight was rather creeping upwards, especially given my height (or lack of it).

Spent Monday reading the book, and dived in on Tuesday.

Have started a food diary but tend to forget to fill it in, must try harder, but also must try not to get too obsessed about food and where the next meal is coming from!

Am not sure I am eating enough veg yet - not a big fan, but am getting there, and need to sit back down with the book and write some notes to keep me on track.

Am well chuffed with beginners weight loss (may be water but it's no longer my water), and also lack of hunger pangs - really understand about carb crashes now -

Highlight of my first week, going camping with friends for 3 days and not breaking my eating plan once - I even took homebaked cake with me for them to eat

Sure it won't be easy, but lets start as we mean to go on

Hello, Sarah! :welcome:

Stick with this plan and you WILL lose the weight. It never, ever works quite as well again as it does the first time, so try to give it your very best shot and never cheat at all. (Once you lose the momentum, it's awfully hard to get it back.)

GREAT job on the camping trip. If you can stick with it while camping, you can stick with it to goal!

I will be cheering for you!

Thanks Verb :D

Well second week wasn't so good [-X but onwards and upwards (or should that be downwards and offwards as we'd like the weight to go)

Went away this weekend (story of my life constantly) and had the pleasure of eating at a Michlin starred restaurant - fab - was really good until fell at the puds [-o< but rest of weekend (apart from other pud error) was controlled. Only lost 1lb all week though, but still 1lb.

Have re read the book and realise a couple of errors I need to correct, think I am too reliant on cheese and not always enough veg  I am reading packets etc better too now

Am very good on hunger pangs and not habit eating, however really haven't experinced the Atkins edge they promised :help:

Big challenge tomorrow with all day meeting, but I have planned for this so will be fine I hope \:D/

Stupid struggle at present is getting my take home and ripen advocado's to ripen at home!

Wednesday's meeting went fine, lovely plate of cold meats and cheese, with tomato, cucumber and celery for lunch.

Am still fluctuating between 222 and 224 and don't know why :? Have followed to the letter for 5 straight days ](*,)

Be patient--it WILL pick up again. No one loses in a linear fashion. There are always slow-downs and speed-ups, halts and starts, all that! You can do it!

So 3 week now and i am getting very fed up

Love the plan, understand the theory, just can't lose the weight ](*,)

Have been stuck for a fortnight, what ever is supposed to kick in just doesn't seem to be doing so

Survived another weekend away and also a meal in an Indian Restaurant - missed out popadoms and starter and had the tandoori mixed platter with a spinach and cheese side dish - was yummy

Any suggestions gratefully received...is it exercise...is it water....do I need to count calories as well?

:help:

Am getting better at reading labels - blimey isn't sugar in a lot of items ](*,) Yesterday bought a sugar free peanut butter, plus a ceaser salad sauce and a peri peri hot sauce

Off to make breakfast now

Nice to make your acquaintance. I too will be following your progress. I am not qualified to provide any suggestions as of yet but I will certainly try to be a good cheerleader.

Keep it up!

So i have lost 12 lb's in 4 weeks, had hoped for a touch more to be honest, but as it took a year to put 1.5 stone on I should be happy to take a month to knock some off.

I just feel I am missing something that would help a touch more, am good about water, have now knocked out coffee completely. What is odd is that I often feel bloated, especially in the evening and don't know why

That is an excellent rate of loss. The only ones who lose those crazy amounts you sometimes hear about are very young people or very, very obese people. You are doing QUITE well. Congrats!

FED UP FED UP FED UP ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Now 5 weeks and only 12lb loss still, whole week no movement. No cheats, lots of water, careful reading of labels etc

I have the newest Atkins book, some of its info seems to jar against other people's views on the main forum pages, wonder if I should find an older book and see what's changed?

Do feel good on the eating regime, the Atkins edge did kick in about 2 weeks ago :D

The frustration is I have an enormous amount to lose so feel I should have seen a more productive start, plus this just lack of loss seems irritating.

This turns into a whinge instead of journal as nothing happens for such long stretches

Am about to go camping for 6 days so will review again afterwards, have eating plan mapped out so fingers crossed

Don't fret--everyone has a pause right at about this time! It even has a nickname: PISS (post induction stall syndrome).

Wait it out, and the losses will magically resume again. Trust me on this--it happens to everyone! It's as though your body needs to take a pause after losing so much so quickly.

Woohoohoohoohoo :sunny: lost 5lb - Thanks Jessica for you encouragement :thankyou: I now weigh 212lb

Coped really well with camping holiday and never faltered on food side, may have had the odd gin & tonic (slimline tonic) and sloe gin - I know that is bad but heyho - you should have seen what the others eat that I didn't which would have been a whole lot worse [-X

Am off again on Thursday for 5 more days camping so will try and do the same.

Interestingly I did get a lot more exercise which I am sure helped, I also ate very big breakfasts, will have to see if sometimes I just don't eat enough

Well another week and 2 more lb lost so I am now 210

Survived another 5 days camping and should be home and dry for a while now, apart from a meeting tomorrow, will take some bits incase the buffet etc is unsuitable

It is interesting how I fad and fancy on different foods - was made on advocado's but haven't had one for ages again.

Am thinking of trying mock danish, but don't know whether to just keep away from anything sweet. I don't have an overly sweet tooth, just occasionally wants something
