My hubby and I started Atkins this week. His doctor told him he has to lose weight as he is pre-hypertensive. I am looking to lose the "few" extra baby pounds. I wanted to say hi and let everyone know how helpful this board has been. I check it sometimes several times a day for hints and tips.

Today is day 5 - I am down 5lbs and my husband is down 8. I have to say that planning our meals and snacks a week ahead has been the advantage. I can't believe I am not hungry. I am a total sweets snacker at night, but haven't missed it at all. I am sure I am in Ketosis as I now have that metallic taste in my mouth. My favorite food so far is the cauliflower mash - it tastes just like mashed potatoes!!

I look forward to participating more as this is quite a journey!

Hi, congrats on getting started. I am just starting today.
How have things been going for you guys?
I have tried so many diets I am running out of options, I really hope this works.

Have you tried to get any of the nitrate free bacon, ham, salami, etc.?
I can't find it in the grocery stores anywhere so I am really lacking and missing that as part of my breakfast.

I will search this site for other questions I have, although it doesn't look like anyone has posted anything in a while. I am also curious about snacks during induction. There are things that have no carbs at all and I'm wondering how much of that you can have. I'm sure hunger is going to be my biggest factor until my body gets used to this.

Anyway, best of luck to you and your hubby!! :)

Congrats to u both on your success thus far and best wishes for continued success. I'm back after being off low carbs for years. I love the allowable foods and it doesn't feel like I'm dieting but more like a way of life.
