(DH had lasik surgery, so we were out of town.)

Depends on your definition of very cold. For us, it would be a heat wave. I think the marathon website says low in the 40's, high in the low to mid 60's. Perfect running weather if it doesn't rain.
The marathon is right before Mardi Gras.

Thanks Patty, I have been trying to run 5 miles. I did it last week and I tried it again this morning. I feel fine, except it was very warm out there! Not anything unusual but I thought I may not finish.
Patty, 13 miles would be awesome, do you think you will do it? I don't think I could do a 1/2 marathon. I would think New Orleans wouldn't be too cold but you never know.
Teechah, hope your DH is doing well with the surgery.

I still have a back ache and my knee is still reminding me it hurts but tonight we went for a very long bike ride. I have an email out to a friend to see if she knows what the distance is. DH gave up halfway thru and went back but I did the whole distance I had in mind. My back, knee and now my behind is letting me know though they aren't happy. I was trying to do something that wouldn't put a lot of stress on my out of place areas.

YOu would be surprised Carrie. The build up after you hit 5 miles is more mental than anything else.
today: 3 mile walk with g-dog

Monday: upper body workout, 46 mins, not my best work
I think I'll do another challenge after this one. That'll take me through Christmas. Then, in January, I'll work on training for the 10k and the half marathon, both in April. The half is a memorial to the victims of the OKC bombing. I've heard it's very emotional...like there's a banner along the course for each victim (168?). Everyone likes that race; it's very popular. It'll be my first half.
Hopefully, I'll take along a smaller, stronger body for those races...and cute running clothes.

WEdnesday...rain, rain and more rain. So I did the 20 minute shred dvd. Easier the second time but I still had to drop my weights once or twice.

Funny that they warn you about the video right in the title... This workout will tear your body to pieces...
Thurs: HIIT cardio, level 10 = 7 mph / 8 mph

I am embarassed to say I am only using three pound weights.
When I lift at the gym on the machines, I am using higher weights but for some of those shred lifts, three pounds is all I can do at the end.

I'm the same way. I did a Jillian Michaels video this summer with just 3lb weights and I was sore for 2 or 3 days.
