No. When we got to the gym, our intention was to try out the bikes. But, they were in use. Rather than wait, we did the treadmill. BUT, my workout buddy does not run, so she tried doing it with increasing her elevation and walking. It was her first time and she does not feel comfortable on tredmills. So, she did't work very hard.

Then, we did the strength workout. She stil wanted to do some cardio so I was a good sport and rode the bike.

It felt good to feel like it was a really good workout. Kind of like when you finish that hard 5 mile run.

I know the feeling, hate to do it or even think about doing it but once it's over, you feel so good!!

Have fun at Beerfest. For some reason, I thought it was in Omaha.

Sunday - 4 mile run later in the day. I hate when I do that. I struggled.

I agree with you about the time that you work out. I love to do it first thing in the morning. DH never wants to do anything until after lunch. That just screws me up. HE says that is why he could never do well in the half marathons that we ran...They all started before noon...Like 7 or 8 am.

Monday: The gym is closed due to Yom Kippur. Walked outdoors and then came back and did the weight workout as best we could in my basement. I only have 3 and 5 pound weights. We could combine them to get 11 pounds for some exercises. I need to buy some heavier ones.

It was nice to know the program was doable outside of the gym.

I'm with y'all. If I don't go first thing, it's awfully hard to get there later. Plus, the weather is just so pretty that early in the morning...everything so still...

Patty, I've been meaning to ask you if I should try arch inserts in my shoes. And...is it probably time for a new pair? (Got them last Feb/Mar?)

Teechah, how is your back doing?

For me, early morning in Florida is the only time to run outdoors. The weather is cooler and I'm more energized. I could barely finish yesterday and today there was no struggle at all.

I need new sneakers too. Mine are exactly a year old.

Patty, it's nice DH wants to work out with you. I could never do it with mine. He's much too fast and he always tells me what I should be doing, etc..

Yes, Teech, you need new shoes. thej rule of thumb is 300-500 miles on a pair of running shoes...the shorter distance if you are heavier on your feet. Carrie, as much as you run, you should have had new shoes a long time ago. When I was running, I tried to get new shoes twice a year..I settled on Mothers Day and my birthday in December. It was easy to remember.

DH and I like to run together...and now we walk. He is faster than I am but not by a whole bunch. He makes me go faster and he is not crabby when I make him slow down...or he will run to the top of a hill and then circle around waiting for me to pant my way to the top.

While in Denver, I bought a pair of Nike Free 5.0 running shoes. They are suppose to mimic running barefoot. In doing some reading online, some say that running shoes contribute to Plantar Fasciatis. I have tried everything else so I might as well try these. I have been walking in them but have not taken them for a spin on the TM yet. You are suppose to get used to them gradually.

I know I should get sneakers more often, but I love the ones I have. Charles is always telling me to buy them too. I'm so bad about it.

I'll go online now and look at Eastbay and I'll also check out the ones you just got, Patty.

Patty, I saw the Nike Free 5.0 in pink and in black on Eastbay and they were on sale for $69.99 - I think that's a good price so I'll probably get them.

Tuesday - gym day - 50 treadmill, 15 ex bike, sit ups and a few weights

Carrie, you may want to try them on in the store first. They do feel different on your feet.

And, I had to go up a half size in them.

The all black ones are on sale at RoadRunnersports.com for $59.99. They also have some lime green ones that are something like $44. I know the black ones are last years model. I think the green ones are version 2 so probably two years old.

Ok, that's a good idea. I usually can go a size lower in a sneaker, but I better try them on first because the website did say these run to size.

Thanks!!

30 minutes of strength work

20 minutes HIIT - 4.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 with 7.5 on the last set. This seems to be a good spot for me. The 7.5 was tough to finish.

20 minutes on the exercise bike
