These exercise bikes are way cool!!!

They have about 30 different programs you can run plus a game where you chase dragons while you ride.

There is a video screen and the resistance changes automatically while they have you ride up and down hills. YOu have 20 gears to play with. They give you a pacer to follow if you choose.

The two bikes have some sort of wireless hookup so you can race the person next to you if you are both doing the same course.

Of course the gym only has two of them and they cost $3000 each. Never going to happen at my house but it would be one of my first purchases if I ever win the lottery.

That bike are cool and do sound like a lot of fun! No chance our homeowner's association will spring for one of those.

ran .75 mile ont he track at the gym. NOt much really but exercise buddy was winded so we quit.

30 minutes strength work. I am beginning to have several of the exercises feel not too difficult anymore....Not those dang planks even though I made it through both of them today.

I am waiting till it warms up a bit and then will walk G today. She hates the treadmill as much as I do.

Thursday - another day at the gym - 50 min treadmill, 15 ex bike, weights and sit ups. Neck has started again. Every time I add weights in, my neck hurts. I may have to give it up completely. I even went down to 5 lbs. and still pain.

Arms - DH showed me how to lift over my head not to strain anything but either I'm doing something wrong or I just can't take it.

Arms....

WE do three different arm excersies with weights.

1. works on the chicken wings...lift the weight with your arm bent behind your head. Use other arm to stabilize elbow beside your ear.

2. Sit on exercise ball or bench. Start with weights at your sides, palms facing up. Bend elbows so you are doing a bicep curl. Brng arms up to straight over your head, rotating arms in the process so the palms are facing forward above your head.

3. Kneel on ball or bench with one knee. If you are kneeling on your right knee, the weight goes into your left hand. Bend over slightly. lift weight up so elbow is pointy out behind you and weight stays beside your rib cage.

Those are probably horrible descriptions of how to do them.....

I am pretty sure 1 & 2 are what I'm trying to do. I don't know about #3, but I should try it maybe that will help.

Thanks so much!

Exercise #1.

Make sure you use the other arm in number one to stabilize your alternate elbow. Do not bend your head forward when you do this exercise. You may have to go really light on weight to get your form correct. If 5 pounds is your lightest weight at the gym, try using a water bottle. I have only now moved up to 10 pounds for this one. My exercise buddy started with 5 pounds and that was difficult for her.

My other suggestion would be to just do one of the exercises and see if it hurts your neck. It may be that it is just one motion that is causeing you difficulty.

Thanks Patty, I'll try all your suggestions. I had gotten up to lifting 15 lbs last year but when I started to have pain, I cut back to 10 lbs. I went back to 5 - but now I'll start with the water bottle.

Friday: 30 minutes with weights, 30 minutes on the cross trainier/elliptical.

Ok. I admit that I am not the brightest bulb in the pack.

DF and I are on the same machines, side by side. Teh machine asks you to enter your weight and age so it can figure your target heart rate. We both come up with 136 for the target. This is the cardio workout. I know my average heartrate when I workout is about 150 so no way am I working at 136 the whole time so I pumped mine up. Her weight is less than mine and she is younger than I am.

At the end of the workout, (30 minutes) I had gone more miles at a higher heartrate and had burned fewer calories than she had.

What is up with that?

It has to be the heartrate thing. But I would have been strolling if I used the 136 as my target heartrate.

You just cannot trust those machines.

It was an ok workout but not as good as the bikes or running IMHO.

Sunday - 3.5 mile run. Not my best but I'm still not feeling 100%.
